Past Fedora DEI Team Activities

This page preserves historical content from the Fedora Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Team for transparency and reference. While these initiatives are no longer active or current focus areas, their legacy contributed to today’s DEI work.

Fedora Women

The Fedora Women initiative aimed to nurture the involvement of women (cis and trans) and gender-queer people in Fedora and other Free and Open Source Software projects.

This community worked to bring awareness to contributions by women and non-binary contributors in Fedora.

Although the Fedora Women team is no longer active, many of its goals have evolved into broader efforts, such as the Fedora Week of Diversity (FWD).

Demographic Survey (2015/2016)

In 2015/2016, the Fedora Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Team drafted a demographic survey to better understand the composition of the Fedora community.

Due to data storage concerns, privacy issues, and evolving regulations like GDPR, this survey was never launched.

You can check out more about it here in the Demographic survey section.

Events

We still run active events like Fedora Week of Diversity (FWD) to support diversity in our community, and in open source in general. You can also look at the past events section to see what we’ve done before, and follow our channels to stay updated on this year’s events.
